hi guys, i've seen alot of sr20det 510's gettin around with front mount 'coolers, n i was wondering if there was much cutting involved? i'm having a water to air 'cooler installed as part of the build (thanks to c-red in perth) has anyone used or are using one of these? i'd like to know how effective they are.

"simarkbotak" has a water to air cooler, check out his project car thread dude.

A couple of others
- "deeznutz" FJ turbo 180B with Subaru Liberty W>A cooler
- "NineTen" VG30 bluebird with PWR barrell cooler

As for air to air coolers - have a look through the project cars and feature cars thread for pics of how to fit them. Not really that much cutting to do and you can keep the 'fairly stock front end' look too. My car uses a fairly cheap <$200 Chinese 450 x 300 x 76 cooler. I did the first one and dozens of others have since too. It works and looks great, just remember to roll a 90 deg return on the cutout (to save being harrassed by the keyboard jockeys on other forums :twisted : - Maybe put some wheel spacers on to distract them for a while )

A rounded finish on the sheetmetal cut.

Rather then a sharp flimsy end, a 90 degree bend, strengthens and minimises the sharp end.

Get it?

Waste of time i reckon

Ahhh.... Has anyone done it and found it to stiffen the panel up considerably?

or just get some small rubber tubing
run a blade down one side to enable you to split it open (make it into a 'rubber' conjute), and then place it over the metal edges

thats what i did for my cooler piping for the S15

looks smick

it does make it stronger, but by the time you bolt a radiator and a cooler in place you wouldnt know the difference

I guess one of the other bonuses for folding the lip is funneling the airflow into the radiator.
Plus it looks better (so it must be good)
