  1. I just fitted a new (2nd hand) L20B engine in a 200B wagon. Previous owner was going to use it but plans changed - he seemed like a trustworthy fellow who'd been a rally navigator. Compression is good, and fires up OK and no unusual noises. But then it won't idle till fully warm, idles rough, and then blows white smoke when revving and rapidly heats up even on a cold day to boiling within 5 minutes of running. Also, the new oil is already starting to go greyish after 10-15 minutes of running time. Any clues? By comparison, I once fitted a good L18 to a 180B that fired up immediately, ran well, no smoke and even after 200,000km the oil stays nice and golden after 5000km since an oil change. Hope somebody can help!
