  1. S14 Sr20Det Revs Dropping...help

Also clean out your IACV. It may be full of oily gunk, stopping the car from idling properly. I had kind of similar issues with my car.
  2. 72' Gl 510 Grandpa Spec Glory Thread

$hit fella, sorry to hear about the accident and see the damage to the datto. Glad you are ok though and you weren't at fault. Agree with what was said above. Baz usually can help with statement of what the car is worth. Do you think you'll start another project?
  3. Castrol Q&a Thread.

WTF? This guy done a runner?
  4. Castrol Q&a Thread.

    Umm.... Bump? Anyone out there?
  5. Project 510 - 1972 Datsun 1600, SR20DET Conversion

Got any photos of the cage and how it interacts with the dash? Looks good from what I've seen BTW!
  6. Whiteline Strut Brace

Hey Matt, I maybe wrong but Nik suggested that his cross member is a DIY crossmember, maybe his doesnt hold the engine up as much as ours(datsport)? The reason I wanted to ask you guys, its a case that if I order the brace, its a special order, and if its deemed not to fit i will be unable to get a refund. There is too much uncertanty for me, i guess I will just move on and not worry about it Thanks guys. I think mine is pretty close to the Datsport 200B cross member. I have a mate who has a similar setup, and his motor sits about the same height. The good thing about the whiteline strut brace is you can raise it slightly by undoing the side bolts and just rotating it. I think i've got about 1" clearance, which is plenty. I think you should be fine. (famous last words...)
  7. Whiteline Strut Brace

I'm running S14 SR20DET with home built Datsport DIY front end, and it clears if you face it backward. (quite nicely too I might add) Got any more questions, PM me.
  8. Castrol Q&a Thread.

I've got a couple...(or maybe more ) 1. Do you recommend Molybdenum Disulphide (such as Liqui Moly products) as oil additives to reduce friction, decrease wear and increase engine longevity? 2. Due to API SM and SN slowly decreasing the maximum amount of ZDTP (Zinc and phosphorus) as an additive in engine oils, are you considering using another product like MoS2 or organic Mo when future API ratings come out? 3. One of your competitors lists their 10W40 full synthetic as having 1240ppm of Zinc. What does the equivalent Castrol oil use? 4. Can you detail any Castrol products that contain ester based oils? 5. What group of synthetic oil would you recommend for the hydraulic lifters in the SR20DET? I noticed you mentioned using mineral oils or group II oils for roller rockers for example. NOTE: the SR20DET has oil squirters on the pistons too. 6. Can you comment on the previous use of normal mineral based oils in my engine (SR20DET) and then I start to use synthetics? Supposedly oil seals exposed to mineral oils and then to synthetic oils causes the seals to swell. Also, the higher detergents in synthetic oils cause the beneficial sealing carbon deposits to be removed, potentially increasing oil use? Admittedly my engine has not had oil consumption problems, so I don't think this would be an issue. 7. Is it possible to use a Castrol race oil in a street driven car for better protection (say to drive to the track and then race for example)? I assume the race oils don't have to conform to the stricter regulations posed by API/SAE/ILSAC etc. I am interested in the best possible engine protection and performance without regard to conforming to SAE/API and ILSAC etc. specifications. Thanks in advance for the response!
  9. Project 510 - 1972 Datsun 1600, SR20DET Conversion

Holy sweet mother of Jesus Christ monkey balls. You don't really have to run an alarm. With the PDM all you have to do is configure so that when you turn the ignition switch, you press the horn button (but the horn is configured not to sound as it goes through the PDM, and perhaps flick a switch at the same time and the engine starts (as per the autospeed doc I put in above) So really the cost is pretty much justified, as you don't have to buy an alarm, just a horn for the PDM to act as an alarm. etc. Crazy stuff..
  10. Project 510 - 1972 Datsun 1600, SR20DET Conversion

What's the cost for a MoTeC Power Distribution Module box? http://autospeed.com.au/cms/title_MoTeCs-Power-Distribution-Modules/A_111402/article.html I would've thought you don't need an alarm! Just disconnect the MoTeC PDM and put it in your back pocket and nobody could figure out how to start the damn thing!
  11. Project 510 - 1972 Datsun 1600, SR20DET Conversion

You going to be running a resonator in the exhaust system? Or are you hoping the magnaflow (straight through?) is going to do the trick?
  12. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

Some of the photos look like the Escort is trying to get away from the Datto... (sort of like the chase scene from fast and furious tokyo I think )
  13. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

Anth, Love your work. It looks simply beautiful. The wheels are perfect, the photos are excellent (I gotta bring my car around and we can do some white datto shots :P), and my money is on the Datsun 1600 to win the 'chase'
  14. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

Nice work Anth. I don't mind the front, I reckon it looks good!
  15. Datsuns On The Street

I got breath tested recently at a breath testing station, my Datsun 1600 was just fully engineered. Officer breath tested me, and as I was about to go, he said "WAIT! WAIT!". I thought, crap, these guys are going to defect me or something. Another copper comes running over, and starts to say, "what have you got in it, one of my mates had one of these with an FJ, and what do you do with it?" At the end they both said "Now you behave yourself" Was pretty funny having two coppers around 25-30ish saying to me "behave yourself". All the other cars behind me were finished breath testing and waiting for these coppers to let me go. Was pretty funny. I was driving home another night and it was PISSING down with rain. I was going down the western ring, and this BMW kept following me and pulling along side me. I kept thinking he wanted to drag, so I left in a hurry. Western ring then changes to a 90 zone and I slow down, it's still raining, and the passenger in the beemer winds down the window and the driver says "HWHWHH DO YA WNN", I say "WHAT!?", He says "HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT", I say "It's not for sale!" He says something like "Cleanest car I've ever seen", Both passenger and driver give me two thumbs up, and he drives off. Recently I was stuck in traffic in the datto, and was at a rail crossing. A Japanese guy dressed in a suit, about my age (late 20's early 30's perhaps) with one of his mates is in a Late model black Mercedes AMG63 coupe. Blooody nice car 8) . He's on the left hand side and i'm on the right of a two lane road waiting for this bloody train to go past. He winds down his window and says "HOW FAST?" I couldn't hear him properly due to the window being up on the passenger side and the bloody bosch 044 chattering away, and I had the harnesses on. So I take the harness off, wind down the window, and he says again "how fast?". Not quite sure what he means, I say "I reckon you'd beat me". He laughs and his mate laughs, and he says "I don't think so". The traffic started moving, and luckily there were cars everywhere so we couldn't find out how much of an arse whopping the AMG would've given me...
  16. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

if it really gives you the $hits, come around and I'll have a look at it, and we can have a play with some different plastic/teflon bits and pieces to sort it out.
  17. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

That little rubber bush that squeaks, try adding some grease to it and see if that fixes the problem.
  18. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

Bloody hell Anth. That's a bit of bad luck. Nothing you could've done about it. Can happen to anyone. You're just bloody lucky that you weren't injured majorly, or as you said, had some passengers in the back... (or some datto parts) Also glad that you weren't in the Datto. The bloody traffic on the Northern Ring is just ridiculous. Half of them can't drive either...
  19. Anth's 1969 Datsun 1600 Fj20et

Anth, It's just bad luck. You are lucky it's just the back of the car and it looks like an easy fix considering it could've been a lot worse. I'd nearly finished my car, and had just put the rear bumper on the back of the car, and my dad backed his 1600 into mine with a tow ball. Number plate was stuffed, and the back (but not the bumper) was stuffed. Took the panel beater 30 minutes to knock it out, and the painter took stuff all time to fix it up. Keep the car mate!! Don't sell it!

Benny... Thanks for the compliments. But why so serious? You asked me to step up, and stop coming up with pissy little come backs so I did. Now you're telling me it's too much? I never take this stuff too seriously, and I know you don't either. So really, half this stuff doesn't mean $hit. It's still hella funny though. That stuff about raging mincers was pretty good, certainly entertaining. So you'd say all that stuff to my face? Gee... I wouldn't.

Glad we can provide you with some entertainment. Certainly makes the day go faster.

Morning Benny, It's not that I can't do better, it's just that I feel sorry for you that you don't have a finished Datsun 1600 to drive around, and probably wont have for a good 5 years while you put all your time, money and thoughts into the little one. Which of course will be a bit of a challenge for an intellectually disabled ex-maccas worker like you. Still I reckon you'll fit wheel spacers to the cot, the pram, and perhaps even the toys. Maybe even a wheel spacer wind chime for the missus. I reckon that's just within your mechanical aptitude? See the thing is, I never wanted to type out a crap load of garbage like your self due to having little time as it is.. I was even driving home last night after reading your drivel thinking, meh, the bloke is growing up, settling down, and good on him. But then I realised that you are a tool, and i might as well spend the 2 minutes of work time to type this out. Either way, it might take you another half an hour for your intellectually disabled mind to respond, so it's worth it. So while you're thinking closet homosexual thoughts of balls in your mouth, and gay adoption, while you are getting your wife to finger your date, I'll be porking your mum, not your dad as you think, and bouncing off the rev-limiter doing a burnout out the front of her house in the 1600 in two hours when i'm done.

What is this fascination with homosexuals Benny? You sure you aren't a closet one?

Whoa there benny, No need to type out an essay or anything. You're now under the thumb. You don't have to say anything more. Make sure she gives your balls back when you go to the nationals...

Hey benny boy! You finished your car yet?
