Yep .63 Rear

The specs of the turbo are: GT3071R-SP, external wastegate, rated at 600hp, ballbearing, comp wheel 53mm - 56, 0.7 comp

With 4.11 diff gears and the torque of the FJ its still quite sharp down low, but had great top end kick.

I would go this turbo over a 2871r 52trim (which i had on the SR) having had both.

The 2876r is probably the best of both worlds if your concerned for lag but want some punch up top.

Saying that i still made a lazy 220rwkw with the old car and very quick on the street.

Its all in the tune.

Bretts ute goes hard, for those wondering its a twin turbo LS1 SS sweet

Hey Derek,

Gotta say Thanks for coming around last nite and showing me all about the Datto's..

It really is 1 animal of a car.. I didnt know what to expect but as soon as i sat in them new seats i knew i was in for 1 hell of a demo and geezus did i get a show.. This Datto just wants to get up and shred tyres when ever ur on the pedal and is certainly quite a handful..

Ill keep you posted on the updates and news from my front mate, looks like there will be another Datto owner on this forum

Great buy Derek, i've had the pleasure to see this in person and its gotta be in the top 5 street/show 510's in the country.

I run the 2876R on my SR and its a great all rounder, alot of people use this turbo for hillclimbs and circuit racing too

Now tell us Derek, you've driven both and I know they weren't both stock, but give us your opinions on the Fj and the SR.

Ig

Well I'm sold on SR's, there will be no return to the FJ's for me. I'm not diss'n the old FJ but for most people the SR is the best all round choice and I would point to Jeff's & Chris's (turbovan) cars as examples of what I'm referring too. Fuel economy, smooth to drive, performance it's all there with the right balance between them.

Note to Mr PL; Any update on cracking the S14a ECU's.

Ig

Ben? Is your name Derek?

Igstar:

SR with PLMS is the ultimate combo for fuel economy, smooth driving and a package that can make 220rwkw.

Saying that I personally already prefer the sound, torque and rev range of the FJ.

I was left a little jaded with SR's to be honest, if I was blessed with a perfect low k import engine like Chris and Jeff I would probably have a different opinion in regards to thier robustness/lastability instead of the trials and tribulations I and lets not forget poor Mal went through to be a awesome package. The main thing I dislike about SR's is the rocker arm/shim setup on SR's, even with the Greedy Rocker Arm Stopper I was hesitant to rev it out as hard as say an FJ. Saying this PJ's SR does the numbers and so does McGregors, also a 180sx in Brizzie called IDR46 (I DRAG) made over 600hp before popping.

FJ's from my discussions with various tuners is that they don't have to lean on the SR's as hard as those heavy iron block FJ's and they withstand a fair ammount of punishment.

The best of both worlds would be a daily SR/PLMS 200-220rwkw street car, and a full blown FJ race car so it comes down to what you intend to use the car for.

Me I want to enjoy it as a weekender, cruiser, ocassional dyno day, occasional drag day and ocassional powercruise etc car.

The car is too good to crease up from hitting the track, weekend in and weekend out so I would never use it primarily for motorsport use.

Thier are merits for both as they both make our beloved Dattos go really hard and a joy to drive.

But for me this easiest way to describe myself currently would be: "FJ convert"
