Hi Antony,

You are on the list. If you don't think you will be able to make it to a regular meeting before the show, I can post the ticket to you.

Minchinbury Mcdonnalds was suggested.

Arrive 8am for 8:15 departure.

You can go directly to the Northern gate (gate 4).

Make sure that the massive orange stickers are on your windscreens prior to arriving at the gate.

There will be 2000 cars trying to get in, so the better prepared we are, the smoother things will be.

Call me on 0414 193 775 if there are any problems on the day.

I will now not have a car on show :-( Damian DB1600 will be taking my place.

My nephew's 1st birthday is on, plus I have to work Sun arvo. Will drop in for a look during setup though - so not a total loss.

Manifold gasket is blown, trying to get a new one today

If I still don't get the correct one, can I reuse the old

one with some gasket goo to go to a track day tomorrow

with my daughter? Will I cause myself more problems

with the car?

I think it will be ok as it just sounds like a hole in the exhaust pipe

but I would like to know if I am likely to cause myself more problems.

If your going to use the silicon, put it on, and then nip up the manifold, till its 3/4 there. wait about 15 mins to cure,(forms a good seal) then tighten them all up. Should do the trick.

The only damage will be your time .. You should be ok.. When your done, block the end of the exhaust pipe with your hand or rag , when its running to hear where your leak is

good tips thanks

Found a near identical gasket at autopro.

I think they know stuff because they said

that looks like one of a 180b the L16 engine.

I told them mine is an R16 engine which they

hadn't heard of, but it wouldn't surprise me if they

were the same engine.

Missing a couple of the holes but they

aren't in use anyway.

For others reference its:

Good luck with it fitting. The L series and R series engines are different. But if you get it to work then a bonus for you..

I have heads and gasket sets for both engines here and just tried them for fit, unfortunately L-series won't fit. Slightly different shape, and shorter overall then the R16 gasket.

I have an H20 gasket kit here that you could have, problem is that "here" for me is Newcastle. I can bring it with me to Eastern Creek tomorrow (assuming I can sort my own problems in time so I can make it down there :wallbash: ) . If you're really desperate and feel like a drive to Newcastle, I'll be home all arvo today as I'm looking after an ill daughter.

Otherwise, you could try your local spares places again and look for exhaust gaskets to suit the following - Nissan Cedric 2000 N330 1975-, Caball 2000 C340 1975-, Cabster PF20 KPSE21 1975- (all listed on the gasket kit I have) or for Nissan Urvan fitted with H20 engine (I'm not sure what years exactly). My kit is a "Halls" brand, part number CJ102. These should all fit as the H20 and R16 are pretty much identical in most areas, my H20 exhaust manifold gasket definitely fits on my spare R16 head. The head I have is a late alloy metric version, although I don't think there's much difference between metric and imperial / alloy and cast iron heads for the motors.

I've PM'ed my phone number to you just in case.

Good luck !!

Thanks to Grahame and El Presideno for the invite.

My daughter and I had a great time. Car went well and

we went topless the whole way home. I'll be looking out for more

club outings. I got some photos on my phone and a video of the

"hot lap". If they are any good, I'll see if I can post a couple of them.
