Well I figured its time to put up a project thead since I have been on here for years and never got around to it...If anyone recognises it please fill me in on any history or pics of previous lives..

My first car was a Stanza (couldnt afford a 1600) and the old man had it since new, after having several late model V8s I still wanted a 1600.

Found 1 on ebay ,no one bid ,so I rang after auction went to have a look. The only rust was rear quarters already paint striped to show all.To my suprise came with all glass ,bumpers complete interior and had engineers report for ca18 mod..Snapped it up for a very good price.

That was several years ago , since then i have been buying parts for the rebuild not being allowed to start till we bought our house..Well we got it complete with 2 1/2 car garage :woot:

Time to start the datto

datto in her new home..

08072010748.jpg?t=1278579452

6 months with no paint in engine bay under the old mans carport wasnt planned or nice to her

08072010749.jpg?t=1278579617

after 2 hours trying to remove drivers side swingarm (due to bolts frozen into metal sleaves of bushes, and not fitting though the holes in crossmember) resorted to grinder.... looks like i will be ordering a DIY adjustable rear end kit for sure now :whistling:

Picked up these for a song on evilbay last week

Now the questions start..I have a stuart wilkins sr20 kit, plus the car came with 240k struts and brakes and a reversed crossmember, plus i have 2 sets of r31 struts and calipers ect and a 65mm adjustable spring conversion kit, what will the best combination be?

2 What engine mounts will i need to bolt in the s13 sr?

3 Do you need to do any mods to the actual crossmember apart from reversing to mount an sr?

4 how do brian crower cams and valve springs compare to the hks tomei ect, performance wise? they are heaps cheaper..

5 I have always run wiesco pistons in my bikes, how are their sr slugs? again seem to be on the lower end of the price scale is it worth paying extra for CP or something else?

Please feel free to comment

That pic above does look like a piece of rocker arm, as does the damage to the cam. I'm guessing your SR was given a 'bit' of a rev by its previous owner pugs.

Looks like it threw and broke a rocker, then someone has put another one in

You undo the gland nut which is at the top of the insert (where the shaft emerges). Usually use a C spanner or the like, but can use big multgrips to get it undone.

I wouldn't be at all worried about the rocker. With the rebuild it will be fine. Plus I'm sure you'll change the oil more often than the Japs did. From my experience the main reason SR's throw rockers is due to bad oil. If hydraulic lifters aren't pumped up properly, the extra clearance to the top of the valve(s) allows the rocker to dislodge - most often on the way back down after a high rpm zing.

Finnally a bit has been done lately, found my datto under a pile of house reno stuff, Struts sorted, rear brakes almost complete, few more bits came in, pics up soon.

Can i run braided fuel line from front to back?

What type of lift pump can you guys recommend? (underfloor surge tank) or is gravity enough?

Again thanks in advance :thanks:
