Datsun 1200 Ute

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys and Girls !

So this is my project at the moment, A 1980 datsun 1200 ute ! I bought him (car does have a name, Bernie !) at the end of 2011. I've spent a bit of time rebuilding the engine with dad and now comes the task of sanding the car, fixing the dents and eventually a new paint job. Plus some little extras. I'm not trying to build an amazing show car with a wonderful engine, I'm just doing standard. As much as I would love to 'pimp' this car out , money doesn't grow on trees ! This is my first car and I shall hopefully have it ready soon so I can get it registered and then have some motivation to get my p's ! Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures (if someone could tell me how that would be great ! ) of the progress of Bernie and keep you updated on whats happening. I'm open to suggestions and also questions about the engine and what not :)

Hi :)
Thanks for that !
This photo was taken before I took the engine out. The guy who owned the car before me totally cooked the engine, so bad we couldn't even drive it home ! Moral of the story is, I shouldn't have bought the car because it's in a terrible state, but I'll try my best to get everything up and running and looking half decent ! haha :) I'll put some photos of the engine up soon !

Sanded the engine bay, and painted it ! Can't wait till the car is fully painted this colour.
Just put on new springs and shocks, and engine should hopefully be going back in this week. Then it's back into sanding the rest of the car and buying more parts.
Any suggestions for the dash ? Mine is totally cracked. I got a quote for $450 to get it redone.. bit too much for me though.. any ideas ?
