haha damn i guess i sorta see them as a cool old school wheel but bigger...but i do see the way people could see them as a cheapo zepter sort of thing.

anyhoo, im still tempted to get them and keep them as spares

Ride height looks good. How much lower did you want the front??

The Lenso's look sweet i reckon.

I was gonna put the same rims on my white one, when it was still driving lol

Ohh and the GT mirrors will make a heap of difference. What you doing to do with the holes that the black ones leave?

that photoshop looks good chris! (you'd think i would have already done one myself considering i get paid to play with photoshop all day)

the front was meant to be about another 25mm lower, it really looks like its ass dragging at the moment. ive decided ill take them out on saturday and drop them off to be re-done on monday otherwise ill get lazy and never do them.

as for the mirrors, im going to re-use one of the holes from the black ones and drill one new one, then ill just put a grommet over the left-over hole, paint it white or if you can get white grommets ill use one of them. eventually when the car is resprayed in the future ill fix it properly.

me and a mate are planning to go on a little cruise on the new East Link fwy while its still free (tolls start on midnight saturday) so hopefully we'll take some nice shots while we're there, hes got a white mk1 escort

I did lower the front about an inch lower so it seems to be right on! :D

Do the springs now then you dont have to worry about it again..

I actually dont like the lenso's which goes against the trend in here

Seriously wanntabes look hot or even the rims on autoshots car. In fact go 5 stud mate and really open up your options B)

well another option im thinking of is 16" superlites/wantanabes/panasports/rewinds etc...but i still dont know. the thing that i dont like about the lenso's is that they're a bit too modern looking for such an old car, but they look so good on that rx3.

im torn between two worlds....the "street machine" look (17s, use my autometer gauges) vs JDM look (15s or 16s, keep standard dash)

at the end of the day its all reversible, im not cutting anything or throwing anything out, so its not that big of a deal, im just a pedantic prick! :fool:

been doing some digging around for wheels the last couple of days, www.ae86drivingclub.com.au has been a really good resource, and i have emailed Streeter on ns.com to see what he can find in japan...heres what im looking at so far:

Watanabes

Magwatanabe.jpg

Performance Superlite

hdr_superlite.jpg

Konig Rewind

rewind.gif

the superlights and rewinds are a similar price, about $1000...but i would prefer the watanabe's if i can get them, just have to wait and see what comes up.

i want to go for 16x7's. what sort of offset would i be looking at? the Rewinds come in +/- 0, and i think the superlites have a bit more choice so i could go for something custom.

i also like the other old-school jap wheels like the work equips and ssr mesh but they only come in 15's

What front struts are you running?

I think i remember you saying its still the 1600 arms and crossmember?

+/- 0 offset wheels wont fit without flares. Pity.. because they are nice wheels.

Superlights are the bomb on white 1600's. Autoshotz 1600 is a prime example. Got a good range of offsets too :)

PM sent to you also.

Chris

im not quite sure but i think they're 240k or 200b, i still have to ask previous owner for alot of the stats on the car.

so i would have no chance of fitting a 7" 0 offset? even with some skinny tyres like a 185 on the fronts? im searching around for some offset info but its proving a bit difficult. im not in any rush though so ill keep looking

Anth I reckon go a 16inch, lets you keep a bit more tyre wall (and rideability), and a no vote for the lenso's.

You can definitely bring in a nice set of rims from japan for around $1200 in the right offsets. If you do your measurements, a 8 inch rim under the ass in the right offset would look great.

yep the lenso's are truely stricken off the list. heres how things are going at the moment:

- Konig retailer has been emailed, 16" Rewinds out of stock, couple of months away, but the +/-0 offset might be a bit to aggressive anyway.

- "Streeter" in japan looking for Watanabe's

- Just about to email Superlite retailer to see what is offered in the way of sizes/offsets and prices

- Have my eye on a set of 15" SSR meshies selling 2nd hand in melbourne, going to contact seller soon to see if i can organise a test-fit

does anyone know if its easy to get low profile & small width 16" tyres, or is there more options for a 15"?

I have looked into that.

The only small options i could come up with was 185 and 195 in a 45 profile tyre.

Wouldnt want to go any higher profile, nor less width on a 7" wide rim. 6.5" you could get away with a 175, but whats the point lol.

Just found this pic of a 510 running 16x8 all round with zero offset;

4door.jpg

I'd still recommend measuring before believing internet measurements though (as I think they may have narrowed the rear end).

16x8 +-0 all round?

no way.

rears would have definitely need to be narrowed by at least 10mm each side.

Fronts just woudnt be possible. Custom struts? maybe...
