thanks for looking :) i think when i get some time i will do a front-end overhaul. front valance could do with a fresh coat of paint, need to spray all the areas behind the grill black, just a general tidy-up

front springs are now back out, dropping them off tomorrow morning to get 20mm compressed, so it should sit how i wanted it to in the first place

With the AUS$ the way it is at the moment, these may work out to be in your price range even with postage from the US added on.

I vaguely recall someone flogging them in Australia as well, from memory he was here in Newcastle ?? Search for "Rota RB" on ebay.com - there's plenty there for just over $500.

supplier just said there is one set of 16x7 konigs in stock, but im not ready to buy just now, and i still dont know if the offsets are too aggressive. need to do some test fitting i think

as for the superlites, this is what they said:

16x7 - $260/rim

+12mm offset

Shipping is available at $35/rim via fragile courier to the eastern states.

strange because ive heard that superlites come in any offset you want

dat16v that looks really nice, im liking the rewinds. i read that article and it says he runs 280zx struts. would that affect what size wheel you can run?

do you know where i can find more info/pics of that car? would like to see other angles of it :)

thanks for the help and advice everyone has given me so far, really appreciate it

serviced, changed all oils, fitted boost controller, and had a dyno run. ended up with 121kw at the wheels. leans out after 5000rpm so we didnt push it very far, ill wait till next year when i do intercooler and microtech before i try to squeeze any more out of it so we can get all the mixtures right, but it goes really well as it is so im content for now :)

ok bit of a late night update. few things have been happening

firstly i gave my rear muffler a bit of a reco, polished up the tip with some steel wool and metal polish, and then sprayed the body of it chassis black, i think it game up tops...

before:

gallery_108_42_53600.jpg

during:

gallery_108_42_128754.jpg

after:

gallery_108_42_74517.jpg

fitted my gt mirrors that i painted a few weeks ago...was a pain in the ass to fit them but i got them on with alot of patience

gallery_108_42_82062.jpg

fitted my rear coilovers:

gallery_108_42_35825.jpg

got my Datsport DIY adjustable rear xmember installed:

gallery_108_42_62348.jpg

and i FINALLY found a good condition rear bumper, nice and straight, just faded chrome. i tried to polish it up but no go, the chrome has faded.

im taking it tomorrow on my lunch break to drop it off to get re-chromed. it will be pricey but worth it, i think you cant skimp on bumpers on old cars.

look at the difference between the one fitted to my car compared to the new one (especially the right side):

gallery_108_42_49020.jpg

so yeah thats about it for now. im trying to find some short acorn style wheel nuts for my wheels but its proving very difficult!

i was planning on doing my front suspension but since i have to buy some parts from America ive put that on hold since the dollar has turned to shit.

all i really want to get done for the rest of the year is...

- Custom numberplates in black & white, slimline front, standard rear (just my initials and 510)

- Fit re-chromed back bumper, and good condition front bumper (have one in storage)

- Paint all areas behind the grill in black, and re-paint details in grille and headlight surrounds black (dont like the gunmetal anymore, it failed to grow on me)

- Paint lower valance (looks a bit average at the mo)

- Find some damned chrome acorn wheelnuts and polish the face of my wheels and paint the insides black, maybe get a red-wall on my tyres

- and lastly i would love to fit a headunit & dvd screen that ive got lying around if i get a chance...because as sweet as the FJ & fuel pump sounds i need some background music when im driving

thanks for reading

thanks mate :) just got back from dropping the bumper off to the chromers, got quoted $350 which seems to be about the average. hopefully get it back this week

Your car is lookin real tidy anth!!

I agree with you on the bumpers. IMHO they make or break an old car! Dodgy faded/pitted old chrome bumpers lowers the finish of the rest of the car. $350 for one bumper sounds like a good price too! (ive only heard of $1000 for 2 bumpers, but that may have included re rolling...)

- Paint all areas behind the grill in black, and re-paint details in grille and headlight surrounds black (dont like the gunmetal anymore, it failed to grow on me)

- Paint lower valance (looks a bit average at the mo)

Just a thought....

Whilst your in the process of painting and whatnot... you could catch the rear lower quarter rust before it gets too far along in its life.

I just noticed a bubble or two in the pic below:

- Find some damned chrome acorn wheelnuts and polish the face of my wheels and paint the insides black, maybe get a red-wall on my tyres

What kind of nuts are the acorn wheel nuts?? Got a pic??

i know what you mean, but painting the lower quarters isnt something i can do with a pressure-pack and a bit of luck :p i'll keep an eye on it though and if it starts to spread ill get it done professionally

these are the wheel nuts im after, cant find them anywhere...gonna start going around to all the wheel shops soon. i tried one wheel shop and they didnt have them, also autobarn and supercheap didnt have them either
